Experimental study of reinforced glulam beams
Abstract
Abstract This paper presents an experimental and theoretical analysis of glued laminated beams reinforced with CFRP plates. Glued laminated beams are made of local wood, application of reinforcement CFRP plate was on tension side externally bonded reinforcement. Four-point bending was performed on unreinforced and reinforced beams until failure. This research aimed to assess the load-bearing capacity and stiffness of reinforced beams, and the possibilities of strengthening timber beams produced in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A total of six beams with a length of 285 cm, a rectangular cross-section of 60 mm width, and a height of 150 mm were tested. The results of experimental tests of reinforced glued laminated beams show an increase in load-bearing capacity and stiffness compared to unreinforced beams.
