Fire-Structure Coupling Analysis of Tibetan Timber Ancient Buildings in China
Abstract
Abstract Tibetan timber ancient buildings are significant cultural heritages of China, but they are highly susceptible to damage in fire. This paper takes the Dukezong Ancient City in Shangri-La as the research object and proposes a fire-structure coupling analysis method. Firstly, the PyroSim platform is used to simulate the combustion process of the building under a natural fire. Secondly, the Adiabatic Surface Temperature (AST) data of critical wooden nodes in the fire are extracted, and transient thermal analysis and thermal-mechanical coupling analysis are performed utilizing the ABAQUS platform. The results show that the fire damage exhibits a local spread characteristic, and the fire spreads rapidly along the connection path of combustible components inside the building. The thickness distribution of the high-temperature carbonization layer at the mortise-tenon joints significantly affects the fire resistance performance of the structure. The fire resistance limit of beams is shorter than that of columns.
