Abstract

Abstract A significant portion of the existing reinforced concrete (RC) building stock in Europe was designed according to outdated standards and is vulnerable both to earthquake damage and to poor energy performance. Retrofit solutions that integrate structural strengthening with envelope upgrading have therefore emerged as a promising strategy to address safety and decarbonisation objectives simultaneously. Within this context, the EU-funded Horizon Europe project Engineering Research Infrastructures for European Synergies (ERIES) supported the REsilient and SUstainable envelope for vulnerable buildings in seisMic affected areas at the time of climatE crisis (RESUME) project, which investigated the seismic response of RC frames strengthened with a hybrid timber–aluminium exoskeleton system incorporating prefabricated façade panels for thermal upgrading. To investigate seismic vulnerability, two geometrically scaled (1:3) two-storey RC frame specimens representative of non-ductile typologies were constructed and tested on a shaking table at the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (IZIIS), North Macedonia. The experimental campaign comprised 66 shaking table tests conducted in three phases. The dataset includes synchronised time-history measurements of accelerations, displacements and strains, together with input ground motions and detailed metadata describing geometry, materials, instrumentation and testing sequence. The data support validation of numerical models and comparative assessment of structural retrofit configurations within an integrated retrofit framework.
